Christina, The Estate Manager and Miranda the Housekeeper look after the house and grounds at Baldon House to ensure that everything is in place an up to scratch for your arrival. As a result, we ask that guests do not arrive before 4pm on their check in date and to vacate the property by 11am on the day of departure so that house can be thoroughly prepared for the next guests.
A mid week housekeeping service is provided by Miranda on Tuesday mornings. This usually is a general clean and tidy up. If additional housekeeping is required, please contact Christina who can arrange this for you.
Linens and Sheets
Linens and towels are provided free of charge. Each bathroom is fully equipped with fluffy white towels, washcloths and bath mats. The Master Suite and the Guest Room each have electric blankets for your convenience.
Tea and Coffee facilities
The kitchen is equipped with a brand new Nespresso coffee machine with milk steamer for those who value their cappuccino wake up each morning. Additionally, the kitchen is also stocked with a regular filter coffee machine, cafeteria plunger, stove top coffee maker and plenty of tea pots. The three main double bedrooms also have tea and coffee making facilities in the bedrooms.
Kitchen & Dining
The kitchen is well stocked with cooking utensils, crockery, silverware, wine glasses, champagne flutes and of course, everything you need for afternoon tea. There is a wide range of pots, pans, graters, can openers, knives and serving dishes so whatever the chef au Jour is cooking up, it shouldn't be a problem.
The kitchen is fully equipped with dishwasher, microwave, large fridge and freezer, kettle, Nespresso machine, food processor, scales, mixer and a toaster (electrical and Aga). There is a large American style washer and dryer in the laundry area, along with complimentary detergents, ironing board, iron and sprays. The three main bedroom each have a hair dryer. The sitting room has a CD player/radio, as does the Master Bedroom. The Red room has a digital TV and DVD player and the up stairs sitting room, historically called the 'School Room' has TV linked to SKY with Sky sports available. (a selection of DVDs are also available)
Babies and Children
We have two high chairs availbe for guests, along with one traditional cot and one travel cot. Clean linens are provided for these free of charge. There is a selection of plastic plates and bowls. The house is superbly equipped for children, and when they need a break from visiting the pigs, collecting eggs, exploring the woods or rowing on the lake, there is a large selection of toys, board games, puzzles for children to use. There are a few children's DVDs in School Room's cupboard.
There is a selection of outdoor games stored in the back hall, balls, bats, golf clubs. A croquet set in also in the back hall for you to set up on the south lawn or walled garden. Sun shades and cushions for the steamer chairs on the South lawn can also be found in the down stairs cloak room. welcome to responsibly use the grounds and be courteous of the neighbours in the adjoining wings. Enjoy exploring the woods by water and take the row Threr out for a jaunt. Additionally, there is a selection of football/rugby balls as well as a golf clubs, ball and a croquet set which can be set up on the South lawn.
If your idea of a luxury holiday is staying well clear of the kitchen, then we can arrange for you to hire a chef to take the chores of feeding a crowd off your hands. We recommend Alice from www.aliceskitchen.co.uk, who can either come and cook for your or delivered pre ordered and prepared meals to your door when needed. Alternatively, try www.cookfood.net for home cooked pre-frozen food delivered to Baldon House or www.ocado.com for home delivery of groceries.
Telephone, fax, broadband
The house has a telephone for you to receive calls and on which you can make emergency calls out. We also provide a wireless printer, fax and scanner for those needing to keep up to date on business requirements. Additionally, we have wireless broadband free of charge.
Parking and other information
There is parking immediately out side the house for 3 cars. If more space if provided, there is additional room in the courtyard by Orchard Cottage. There is a selection of brochures, leaflets and flyers for local attractions, restaurants and places of interest. Additionally, a House Book if provided with more details, instructions and recommendations for your use. Both Christina and Miranda are available if need be either in an emergency or to answer your questions.
The closest supermarket is Sainsbury's which is towards Oxford on the A4074. This will have everything you need for groceries, dry cleaning and petrol. Dorchester on Thames, away from Oxford on the A4074 has a small co-op for essentials.
If you want an easy start to your vacation, then call in or make a reservation at The Seven Stars on your first evening. It is only a few hundred yards away, situated on the village green and serves food all day. Reservations can be made by calling Matt, the landlord on 01865 343202.
